Getting caught up

Happy New Year!

I'm certainly not much of a consistent blogger, but will make it a resolution to do more blogging this year. 2007 is off to a big start for me. New job that I think will be very fulfilling and will put me on the road a great deal once again. And I went back to college last fall, so I've been very busy with my courses these last few months.

As an interesting elective for my Info Security degree, I signed up for a course called International Terrorism. No, I am not learning to be a terrorist! I am studying the history of terrorism, along with the structure of terrorist organizations, and the typical profile of a terrorist and a terrorist organization. It is very scary stuff. But fascinating, and certainly relevant in today's world. The discussion topic this week (and so timely) is: Do you think that ousting Saddam Hussein was worth the price we've paid? So far only one class participant has said "yes".

The course is offered as part of a Homeland Security certification at Excelsior College. It's been a lot of work this semester, but oh so interesting! I must say I've enjoyed it more than the Java programming course I'm taking, which will be much more useful in my career.
